Tell me about the location
Set amidst the ancient Celtic landscape of Snowdonia, with mountains all around, the Centre is in the glaciated Nant Ffrancon valley. Snowdonia Mountain Lodge was previously a motel, and has been transformed into a beautiful course centre with accommodation for bed and breakfast. It is the home of the World Peace Flame monument. The whole venue has a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.

What's the weather like?
It varies seasonally, with summer temperatures sometimes going up to 25 degrees, while in winter it can be a little cooler and wetter than many other parts of the United Kingdom. As we're in the middle of Snowdonia the weather can change quickly. The best advice is to bring a fleece and waterproof jacket and trousers throughout the year.

Not at all. Many people come to the Dru Retreats alone and quickly feel comfortable in the group.

The standard quoted price is based on sharing a (single sex) twin room. At Snowdonia Mountain Lodge we have a small number of single rooms, which cost slightly more. Most people are surprised to discover that the rooms are spacious and that sharing with someone is actually very pleasant and a great way to make new friends.

Will I be bored?
Certainly not. There is always something to do at Snowdonia Mountain Lodge yet many people discover that its magic is about learning to simply be. Your day can be filled with yoga sessions, guided meditations, talks on nutrition and health, extra treatments or one-to-one sessions, talks or walks in the valley. There are always many interesting people to chat to. However, if you want to be alone - it's easy to find a peaceful spot, by the World Peace Flame monument or sitting under a tree in the garden.

Am I too old/overweight/out of shape to try Dru Yoga?
Definitely not! People of all ages, shapes and sizes really enjoy Dru Yoga. If you have a medical problem that you're not sure about, phone or email one of our tutors for a chat.

I'm not flexible; can I do Dru Yoga?
Dru is for everyone and you'll be surprised how quickly your body becomes more flexible when you practise regularly. Always listen to your body and don't overstretch or strain.

Will I lose weight doing Dru Yoga?
Many people have found that Dru Yoga has helped them achieve a balanced lifestyle, including losing a few excess pounds. They have also experienced that they feel better about themselves and more in control of their thoughts, which has also helped them to sort the problems that may have caused the weight problem in the first place.

Is Dru Yoga a religion or cult?
Dru Yoga is not a religion or a cult. It is a philosophy that began in India an estimated 5,000 years ago. The father of classical yoga is said to be Patanjali, who wrote the Yoga Sutras. These scriptures provide a framework for spiritual growth and mastery over the physical and mental body. Yoga sometimes interweaves other philosophies such as Hinduism or Buddhism, but it is not necessary to study those paths in order to practise or study yoga. It is not necessary to surrender your own religious beliefs to practise yoga. In fact, many people find that yoga helps them find greater depth in their chosen faith.
