19-26th May 2012
Treat yourself to a seven day yoga, meditation and sound holiday in an unspoiled area of Southern Portugal, famous for its beautiful beaches and warm sunshine.
This retreat will be held in stunning Quinta Mimosa, surrounded by ten acres of orange and almond orchards. Two daily classes of Dru Yoga and Meditation will help you leave the stresses of life behind, while the rest of the day you are free to relax on the nearby beaches, by one of the swimming pools, or with a rejuvenating massage. The area is also famous for its golf courses—so partners are welcome on a bed and board basis.
'My retreat to the Algarve in May 2010 was very enjoyable. The accommodation was excellent and so was the food. Everybody was very friendly and I enjoyed the lovely Dru Yoga and meditation sessions. I can recommend it!' Rita Girling, Essex

The venue for this retreat is Quinta Mimosa, which is conveniently located on a hillside just above the historic town of Loule, near Faro. The nearest beaches are about 15 minutes away by car.
You’ll stay in comfortable onsite accommodation which is in three converted farmhouses set in beautiful orchards and gardens. Each house has ensuite bedrooms with a lounge, fully equipped kitchen, terrace and barbeque area. You’ll also have use of three swimming pools and you’re welcome to walk in the grounds and pick the ripe fruit from the orchard.
The yoga and meditation sessions will be held either outside or in the fully equipped yoga studio. This is a converted barn, with cool flagstone floor and air-conditioning, and it opens out onto the garden for outdoor sessions.
The seven day holiday includes a two hour yoga and meditation class before a substantial brunch shared in the outdoor dining area. If you’re rushing off to the beach, you can make a packed lunch, and then the rest of the day is yours to relax. At 5pm on 5 days out of 7 there’s a 90 minute yoga and meditation class, followed by a delicious vegetarian evening meal. Included in the retreat are around 20 hours of yoga classes as well as 6 brunches, 1 breakfast (on the last morning), and 5 evening meals. On two days we give you the whole day free after the morning yoga session to explore the area and arrange your own evening meal in a typical Portuguese restaurant (or self-cater in your accommodation).
You’ll need to arrange your own flights and travel insurance, and taxis to and from the venue from Faro airport (around €25). You’ll probably want to hire a car when you arrive, although taxis to the beach are quite reasonable (around €6) or you can hire bikes instead. And while you’re there, you can book a relaxing therapy with one of the experienced therapists at Quinta Mimosa. These aren’t included in the course price.
The Algarve, Portugal’s southern- most province has a wonderful climate all year round and has 1000 hours of sunshine annually. It has around 100 miles of breathtaking coastline dotted with rugged coves, sweeping sands and secluded bays. It’s a really beautiful place for a holiday – in your free time you can go for walk in the surrounding National Park, visit the local villages with their cobbled streets, elaborate chimneys and tiled buildings. If you’re feeling active, you could indulge in some golf, walking or horse riding. The surfing beaches on the west coast of Portugal are just an hour by car and in the other direction, Spain is only an hour away.
